Zeeco need to collect flare gas flow data to help them calibrate and evaluate their installations. This can be difficult and time consuming, especially given the worldwide nature of their installations. To help them they looked for a solution to allow them to collect this data from the hazardous area and report it to their desks in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The MM3PEx has been selected for the task.
The low cost "fit and forget" MM3PEx is designed for use in harsh and hazardous environments. The unit is completely self-contained, battery powered with an integral GSM/GPRS modem. The battery is designed to power the device and any loop-powered sensors that are connected and can operate for years without replacement.
The MM3PEx is ATEX certified for operation in hazardous environments, a key requirement for Zeeco.
The equipment is configured to collect the flow data every 5 minutes and send it back to a central server once a day. Zeeco engineers can view and download the latest data anywhere in the world (including from their workstations in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma) using secure web access.
The unit can be reconfigured remotely allowing Zeeco engineers to change the data collection frequency, amongst other parameters. The MM3PEx uses GPRS to communicate with the central server. This provides an extremely cost effective solution for use anywhere in the world.
