au2mation's Compact MM3P, supplied by UK RTU specialist MetaSphere, has been deployed to provide users with remote access to and control of an Ultra intelligent pump controller from world leading sensor specialist Pulsar Process Measurement.
The Compact MM3P RTU has been deployed in an application to support remote monitoring and control of a previously deployed intelligent pump controller. The Compact Mm3P allows users to read and set all parameters remotely as if they were at the site, including reading back the level, setting pump setpoints and manually over-riding the outputs. Pump status (run/trip) can be wired in to the Compact MM3P's onboard I/O for remote pump monitoring.
The low cost small footprint Compact MM3P is ideally suited to this application where size and functionality are issues. The space available at this installation was too small to allow the installation of a device that could normally provide the functionality required to monitor and control the Ultra device. With full IEC61131-3 automation programming capabilities (provided by straton's Soft PLC), sufficient embedded I/O to meet the requirements of this type of small site and with expansion options to extend the basic device, the Compact MM3P achieves a unique combination of size, price and functionality.
The Compact MM3P already supports the open communications standards Modbus and DNP3 to allow integration of the pump controller into any standard SCADA system.
Pulsar’s Ultra series of pump controllers provides sophisticated control for pumping applications, incorporating their unique DATEM echo processing software. From one non-contacting measurement system it is possible to provide:
- Power on delay
- Pump start delay
- Fixed/Alternate duty assist and backup
- Service ratio duty assist and backup
- FOFO duty assist
