au2mation's remote monitoring solutions undergo trial at Virginian Water Authority
Harris County, Texas, 20 April 2010
au2mation's MM3P, supplied by UK RTU specialist MetaSphere, is being trialed on a number of sites to provide a Virginia-based Water Authority with remote access to key operational information.

In one site, a sewer lift station, the Intrinsically Safe (IS) version of the MM3P is installed together with the IMP ultrasonic sensor from leading level and flow specialist Pulsar Process Measurement of Niceville, FL.
The trial installation is ideally suited to the remote location of the site and greatly minimizes the requirement for personnel to visit for routine checks. It is now possible to monitor the level at the site from the internet via a secure login. The login also provides a history of the levels including the highest recorded level for each of the last 30 days.

At another trial site, an MM3P is monitoring supply pressure on a critical point in the clean water network. Traditionally the Authority would need to deploy a datalogger at the site and return again several days later to collect the data.
With the MM3P the data is available daily on the internet via a secure facility, making access to the data more immediate as well as reducing the costs for collecting that data.
The battery powered cellular modem-based units are very simple to install and can be easily relocated to other sites as required. Depending on configuration the units will operate without servicing for several years.
Subject to the success of these trials further installations are possible to deliver more cost and time savings and to help improve the responsiveness of the organization to problems.
The MM3P RTU range is available in the USA and Canada exclusively from au2mation.
