au2mation remote monitoring solutions succesfully complete trial at Virginian Water Authority
26 August 2010 au2mation's remote monitoring solutions have been sucessfully trialed by a Virginian Water Authority. The Authority now has an extremely cost effective option for monitoring remote sites where there is no mains power or communications available.

au2mation's remote monitoring solutions successfully complete trial at Virginian Water Authority
Harris County, Texas, 26 August 2010
au2mation's MM3P, supplied by UK RTU specialist MetaSphere, is being trialed on a number of sites to provide a Virginia-based Water Authority with remote access to key operational information.

At a sewer lift station (to represent a sewer location), the Intrinsically Safe (IS) version of the MM3P is installed together with the IMP ultrasonic sensor from leading level and flow specialist Pulsar Process Measurement of Niceville, FL.
At another trial site, an MM3P monitored supply pressure on a critical point in the water distribution network. Traditionally the Authority would need to deploy a datalogger at the site and return again several days later to collect the data.

With the MM3P the data is available daily on the internet via a secure facility, making access to the data more immediate as well as reducing the costs for collecting that data.
Each site logged over 2,000 hours of continuous operation during the trial and during that time 100% of the expected data was collected with no data quality issues and there were no equipment or software failures.A number of benefits were identified with these solutions when compared with a traditional telemetry approach:
- Since there are no mains power or communications to install each site was installed, commissioned and fully operational in a matter of hours.
- The solutions have a low operating expenditure and maintenance requirement. Once deployed the units operate for years on their battery and require no recalibration or servicing in this time.
- The MM3P RTU has a number of analogue and digital inputs giving it the flexibility to be used in a variety of applications.
- The Intrinsically Safe MM3P RTU is approved for use in hazardous applications such as sewers or other areas where gas or dust may be present and is extremely compact in size compared with explosion proof equipment.

The MM3P RTU range is available in the USA and Canada exclusively from au2mation.
